Do your catechumens know your mission? Do you?

  1. You know what- my parish doesn’t even have a mission statement.

Attending out-of-town Masses is always an adventure, isn’t it? Two Sundays ago we were 300+ miles and 2 states away from home. At the church near the hotel, a visiting seminarian introduced himself during the announcements. After Mass, as we exit I see him on the church steps, nobody is welcoming him or paying him any attention. So I talk to him about who he is, his vocation, faith journey, etc. After a few minutes I check on my wife, who is yakking it up with a woman who seems oddly familiar. And she is: it’s Liz from my parish, coincidentally also in town and attending the same Mass. In the South, the Catholic world is still pretty small.
