  1. I just love your comment “There’s no need to tell a seeker to ‘come back in September.'” I can think of no other statement that is more unwelcoming than telling someone who is searching to “come back later.” The Holy Spirit has brought these souls to us… we MUST respond and immediately welcome them into an inquiry process, even if it’s informal. God always meets us where we’re at… the very least we can do is to do the same with those seekers who come to us. Running a year-round process with the Sunday Lectionary as your guide makes this easy.

I loved this article because it gave me some practical ways and suggestions to involve parishioners. How true it is that asking someone to be on the team is scary and the answer is often “No”. Asking someone for one specific event such as inviting them for pizza as an example sounds very doable or any of the other examples that were given in this article.
    Thanks

  3. It’s not about being too large or too small, but about getting the right people. You can get dozens of volunteers who want to teach NFP to the RCIA candidates, and there’s a place for that, for sure! I don’t like to discourage that sort of thing, but at the same time there are lots of less glamorous topics that also need to be taught well, and they need lots of people who will just hang out and be their friends, as well.
