  1. My experience is that it is not a one or the other situation – i.e. have a high functioning team or involvement with/support of the Parish community. I believe it is both. We have an active RCIA program, with 8 Catechumens and 18 Candidates this year. Our team has grown from 3 to 5, and will hopefully reach 6.
This growth has increased the diversity of presenters at our weekly meetings and at Sunday Dismissals which is very good for participants. Our Dismissals are particularly effective as the entire parish community Sing “Go now in Peace” as participants depart the faith community.
We also bring in other parish members as presenters so that participants get a much broader understanding of not just Church teaching but how the parish operates and who contributes to its operation. Finally throughout the year we invite participants to Parish events (Missions, Retreats, Fun Celebrations) so that they meet as many members of the parish community as possible. Finally we explain parish ministries, and as part of Mystagogy process encourage them to join those ministries that they are interested in. So far, this process has had acceptable success with retention of participants being active in the parish community.
