Why children in the RCIA need a community, not a classroom

  1. At St. Padre Pio, we have family formation. While the children are in their groups, parents are in their groups and we do plan family activities. We encourage prayer and mass attendance; we look for each other. Fellowships are hosted for all the parents and children, to get to know each other. Thank you for remembering those of us who do have large groups of families and children that are in the RCIA adapted for children. This is helpful.

  2. Newmarket, Ontario – we hold family sessions (after the 9:30 mass) for an hour where parents and children join in activities and discussion designed around the liturgical year. I have found RCIA adapted for children is as much (if not more) about connecting the entire family to parish and family prayer practice as anything else. Our process runs parallel to the Adult RCIA. Year- Round and centered on Sunday liturgy.
