A word from your guide
I first heard about the catechumenate in 1981, just after I had graduated from college. This was long before the Internet. My “search engine” was the card catalog at the local Catholic university. Long story, short, all I knew about the catechumenate when I started out was the scribbled notes I took at a one-hour workshop down at the chancery office.
But something happened to me in that time of my life. I felt a call from the Holy Spirit that has only grown stronger and stronger over the four decades I’ve been involved in this ministry. For most of that time, I’ve been discovering ways to gather others who have had a similar call. I’ve been on the lookout for companions and colleagues who struggle with how to develop a catechumenal culture in our church.
Along the way, I decided to build this course. It is my hope that folks who are just starting out in this ministry don’t have to work from scribbled notes. In this course, I’ve created a comprehensive training that will give both novices and long-time veterans a greater sense of confidence about your own call.
